Thankful Thursday - June 23, 2016

Good morning, friends!  It's a rather gray morning here with the promise of rain off and on throughout the day.  I am rather hoping there won't be thunder along with it as I've had more than enough of my big dog's anxiety for one day. Storms, in which the thunder shook the house, rolled through in the pre-dawn hours causing him no end of panic and that meant sleeping was over for me.

It's Thursday, so it's time to link up with Rebecca Jo at Knit by God's Hand for a little gratitude.  I do love counting my blessings.  No matter what is going on in life, taking the time to appreciate the good things puts it all in perspective.

So, here's my list.

This week I am thankful...

*That I had a really good day with my daughter-in-law and grandchildren this past Saturday.  We have a rather rocky history and I never thought we'd have days like that.  Days where we could work together, talk about deeper things, go shopping, and just hang out.  Never, ever, thought it.  It just goes to show you the power of prayer.

*My daughter and her fiance had plenty of help getting moved into their apartment and that it all happened without a hitch.

*Tim continues to heal from his burns and rarely complains of discomfort these days.

*That I was asked to share my prayer binder in two different places.  One is the Friday morning Bible study I attend and the other is a prayer group on Facebook.  The Bible study has a group page on Facebook, too, so I have been making videos that explain how to set up a binder.  It's way out of my comfort zone, but it's going well so far and the ladies all seem to be loving it.

*For a "boring" uncomplicated life.  Sometimes it doesn't feel that way to me and I want to complain....and then someone will share with me what their family is like or what they are going through and I realize my life is boringly normal and I am grateful for that!  I don't think I could handle what passes for "normal" these days with a lot of families.

*For new friends that add much to life.

*For contentment when the world we live in makes it so easy to always want more.

*For a new book by one of my favorite authors.

*For lazy afternoons on the swing with a good book in my hands, a cool glass of iced tea close by, the dogs snoozing at my feet, and the sound of birds singing in my ears.

*For the internet that makes the world a smaller place and makes it possible to count as friends those we'd never otherwise meet.

*For sweet, juicy summer fruits and barbecue.

*For lightning bugs and mason jars to catch them in.

*For chalk art on my sidewalks after the grandkids visit.

*For living in the kind of neighborhood where the neighbors still sit out on their porches or walk their dogs in the evenings and visit with each other.

Goodness, I feel like I could go on and on this week, but I'd better stop.  I have lots to do today and I should get at it.

Have a blessed day, friends!

  1. I always love your lists - they are full of so much GOOD STUFF!
YIPEE for help on moving - that makes such a hard task so much easier.
Think of the ripples that your prayer binder will start - more people doing that. Such a good thing keeping people active in their prayer life.
Yep - a boring life is NOT a bad thing.
