A Haunting Saturday 9

Joining with Sam and the gang today for
a little Saturday 9.

Saturday 9: Tubular Bells (1973)

Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here

1) According to Reader's Digest, The Exorcist is the scariest movie of all time. Have you seen it, and if so, did it scare you?

I've never seen it.  I don't like horror movies and have never seen one willingly...except for the campy stuff with Vincent Price or things like Abbott and Costello Meet the Mummy.  I am a wimp when it comes to the "serious" stuff.

2) The Exorcist has been made into a TV series on Fox, premiering last month. Have you become a fan of any of the season's new shows?

No, but most of the shows that I thought looked interesting are in 10:00 time slots and that's after my bedtime through the week.  I do have high hopes for The Great Indoors, it was funny the other night, and the show coming on Monday (sorry, forget the name) about a support group for people who believe they've been abducted by aliens.  It looks like it will be funny.

3) "Tubular Bells" is a popular ringtone for both Android and iPhone. What's your ringtone?

The whistled theme song from the Andy Griffith Show.

4) As Halloween approaches, do you watch more scary shows and movies?

I usually do, at least of the earlier mentioned campy kind. (Think Hocus Pocus, Ernest Scared Stupid....)

5) Do you have any recurring nightmares?

Nope.

6) Have you carved a jack o' lantern this year?

I haven't carved a jack o' lantern for several years.  When my daughter got old enough she carved her own and for just me...I have a plastic one that sits in the window.  No muss, no fuss.

7) Do you like the taste of pumpkin seeds?

I do.  That is one thing I miss about not carving a pumpkin.  We always roasted the seeds and tried out different seasonings on them.

8) What will the trick or treaters who knock on your door get?

Nothing because Trick or Treat is today in our area and I will be at a wedding.

9) A Halloween "let's pretend:" Back in the 1950s, a home in your neighborhood was the site of a gruesome murder/suicide. Relatives retained ownership of the house but declined to live there. During the ensuing decades, a legend grew: The tragic couple haunts the halls. Generations of schoolchildren insist they heard strange sounds and saw curtains often move mysteriously. Now the house is about to be demolished. A local charity is raising money by sponsoring a Halloween sleepover. Would you be willing to stay in this haunted house over night?

No, but that has more to do with my personal beliefs than fear.  I don't believe in ghosts.

    1. Yeah, but I get a lot of goofy looks because I usually have it turned up pretty loud so I can hear it on the bus.

    1. I think there is one where they meet Dracula, Frankenstein and the Wolfman, too.

  3. I like the horror movies of the Vincent Price era, they left things to your imagination and were not like today's gory movies

  4. I would agree that The Exorcist is the scariest movie of all time. I did see it---back in 1974---and I have no idea how I got in to an R-rated movie when I was only 13 years old. It shook me up for years!!!

Now, I do absolutely nothing scary or demonic.

  6. I don't watch horror movies, either. I like Halloween but not the horror part.
