30 Day Challenge: Day 2

Day 2:  Where you'd like to be in 10 years.

I'll be 62 in 10 years, so retired would be nice, but that's pretty doubtful.  There is a saying out there that goes something along the lines of "I will never get to retire.  I have to work until noon on the day of my funeral."  That probably just about covers it.

With that said, I'd really like to see us out of debt and content to live with less stuff.  It's a hard sell with my husband.  I love the man, but he's spent his whole life putting work first.  He equates work, money, and having stuff with being successful.  It's where he finds his identity and self-worth.  He's going to be 56 soon, so I've kind of given up on changing his perspective, but I keep praying God will have a heart to heart with him.  It would be nice to be able to enjoy life together while we still have some in us.

Other things I'd like to see by then:
  • A big weight loss for me.
  • Better health for my husband.
  • A different job for me.
  • The new living room added on to the house.
  • Both kids settled and happy.
  • The grandkids healthy and happy...and seeing them more.
That's about it. My hopes and dreams are pretty simple.

  1. Pretty simple and also achievable! You have 10 years!! In 10 years, I'll be 75. Whew! I don't even want to guess at what my life will be like.

    1. If I was totally honest, I'm hoping we all be gone in 10 years, that God will have called us home. Rapture, not death. Though that would get us to the same place. This world gets harder and harder to like.

  2. Just this past Sunday, my preacher's sermon was about equating "stuff and money" with success rather than recognizing success as knowing God and building His Kingdom. So...your husband is not alone with those thoughts. That is pretty much our society nowadays.

Yes, your hopes and dreams are pretty simple...but lovely.

I'm enjoying this little challenge you are doing.

    Blessings,
    Patti

    1. I believe your pastor is right. The world rewards right away and most can't seem to see the big picture any more, that the real rewards are yet to come.
